No One Magazine is a novel print publication that aims to showcase the versatility and creativity of queer culture all over the globe through nightlife. Each edition takes readers on a tour of a different city, serving as an intimate account of queer identity’s ever-changing dynamics by documenting the communities and collectives residing there.
The magazine emphasizes preserving queer history and amplifying unrepresented perspectives by highlighting the marginalized’s stories through five components of queer nightlife: Music & arts, self-expression & aesthetics, venues & spaces, physical & mental health, and night-time politics.
Every edition is available online and in print and is published annually in the spring. The magazine’s first version, “Issue 01: No One in Amsterdam,” will be shipped on April 26, following a launch party in Amsterdam. The editors of No One first conceived the idea for the magazine while visiting Amsterdam’s queer party, Supernature. They witnessed the meaning of ‘queer’ manifest while being there: a synthesis of beauty, power, individuality, and community. They found little-known pockets of queer collectives further afield, such as a thriving ballroom scene in Ho Chi Minh City and a queer bar in Pristina, which exists squarely in the middle of a rowdy, macho-dominated street.
No One Magazine’s official website offers pre-orders for each edition that is released. The founders of the magazine describe Amsterdam’s queer community within its historically progressive position on social and cultural challenges as their first stop, making it a natural choice. They aspire to collect stories from places like these and more to document queer culture around the world and celebrate it in all its forms. No One Magazine’s Instagram account is also available publicly, showcasing sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes glimpses of their beautiful photo shoots
