DJ Priya has announced that she will be hosting a free six-week course of DJing workshops in Brighton this spring through summer aimed at beginners, people of colour and those from low-income backgrounds. The “DJ Priya’s DJ School” will provide classes during the evenings in Hove from April 23 to May 22. The course will also provide an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and showcase talent during a live set at the end of the six weeks, and has been launched in partnership with Brighton Cafe Dishoom, Permit Room and local arts and event space Platf9rm, who will host the workshops. Priya wants to make sure that accessibility isn’t a hindrance for people new to the industry and learning to DJ: “No one should ever miss out on an opportunity to find something that they love because of their funds, lack of experience, or because they don’t feel welcome in a specific space” she concluded
