Ruby Barker, the actress who starred as Marina Thompson in the first series of Netflix’s Bridgerton, has been hospitalised with a broken arm after a climbing accident. Barker sustained the injury in Leeds, Yorkshire, during a climbing class, where she was not wearing a harness. Footage of her fall, which shows her hitting her left arm awkwardly after falling from a climbing wall, was shared by the actress on Instagram.

Last October, Barker spoke out against Netflix and Bridgerton’s production company Shondaland, accusing them of failing to offer any support after she was hospitalised twice with psychotic breaks following the show’s success. Barker alleged that nobody from either company had contacted her to provide aftercare or support, despite her reaching out for help. Speaking of her character’s isolated story arc, the actress explained that the character’s circumstances left her feeling isolated on set.

Despite the attention she was receiving on social media and the accompanying increase in engagement and public appearances, Barker claimed that there was “still no support and there still hasn’t been any support all that time.” The actress has since shared her fall on social media as fans send their best wishes.

Following her accident, Barker’s Instagram post showed that the actress’s fall comes weeks after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It is unclear how long Barker will be sidelined for after the accident, but fans of Bridgerton and the actress will be rooting for her speedy recovery. Netflix and Shondaland have yet to release a statement in response to the actress’s claims from last October or the recent accident
