After revealing earlier this year that he was preparing for an acoustic album, musician Noel Gallagher announced that he has scrapped his plans for the album. He originally stated that he had already completed six songs for the album, which he had promised “for the fans.” Speaking on Matt Morgan’s podcast, Gallagher explained that he became fed up with the slow pace of the acoustic album and how downbeat the songs were. “The six songs that I did my god, they’re great, but they’re all fucking down” he said. Gallagher now plans to make a rock album instead.
Gallagher also revealed that he already had an idea for a title for an album. He plans for the title to resemble HBO’s sports comedy series ‘Eastbound & Down.’ However, Gallagher stated that the album would not come out until 2026. He said that his goal is to demo or record all of the songs by the end of this year.
Oasis also made headlines recently when their single “Wonderwall” was named the most-streamed song from the 1970s to the 1990s. Despite only reaching number two on the official singles chart, the song became one of the biggest-selling songs of all time. Additionally, the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ “Supersonic” will be marked with a re-release of the track as a physical single later this month.
Fans may be disappointed by Gallagher’s decision to cancel his acoustic album, but are sure to look forward to his upcoming rock album.
