Despite reporting threats and abuse, many women from the community have been left suicidal since no action was taken to stop the harassment. A woman from Yorkshire, who chose to be identified as Sultana, revealed that she was subjected to abuse by the troll after she defended her friend on TikTok. She received intense therapy to cope with the abuse, which in turn led to the triggering of her PTSD.

The troll, identified as Hasan Syed, a Bangladeshi national living in the French suburbs of Paris, has thousands of followers on TikTok. He has targeted Bangladeshi women in the UK, often making fun of their appearance, and threatening to rape and kill them. Social media platform has created an inclusive space for the community to speak up, however, it has also magnified the voices of those who seek to threaten and silence them.
