Recent remarks on her appearance dominated the comment section of her March 27 TikTok post of herself dancing to the chorus of her latest single, Emptiness. Critics wrote that they almost did not recognise BoA until they saw her username.
BoA responded on her Instagram Stories, stating that when she doesn’t take care of herself, netizens criticise her for not doing so, and when she does look after herself, netizens still criticise her. If she puts on weight after their demand for her to put on weight, critics insult her by calling her a “pig”. BoA implored netizens to stop wasting their time with such negativity and expressed that she is BoA, regardless of the negative comments.
BoA’s latest single, Emptiness, was released on March 26, her first release in a year and four months since her third mini-album, Forgive Me, was released in November 2022. During this hiatus, BoA was deeply involved in the production and debut of NCT’s latest and final unit, NCT WISH.
