‘Light Again’, a new demo by Lil Nas X, has been released for fans to enjoy. Created on a house beat, the young rapper can be heard rapping and singing in the song. The tune was made available on SoundCloud and Lil Nas X himself admitted that there may be some backlash from his record label once he released it. He quipped that he probably wouldn’t be getting away with it. He shared the new track on TikTok, saying, “Ngl might get in trouble for releasing this song without label’s permission but anyway,”. Lil Nas X also added, “Sorry Columbia!”.
The singer posted an extract of the same track on Instagram back in February. He sang the outro song and captioned his post by saying that while he didn’t really like his music, ‘Light Again’ was sure to become a classic and he was sorry about it. Apart from ‘Light Again’, Lil Nas X released a new track titled ‘Where Do We Go Now?’ in January this year. The song, part of his upcoming documentary titled ‘Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero’, is a reflection of his artistry.
Earlier this year, Lil Nas X was in the news for the negative response he received for his song ‘J Christ’. Both the song and its self-directed video received criticism for their portrayal of Biblical characters. Many believed that they were offensive and hurtful. The criticisms saddened Lil Nas X. He had never experienced receiving negativity for his art from the majority of people, and he expressed that the experience was depressing. He never intended the song to offend anyone.
The young rapper did, however, state that he enjoyed sparking chaos when he was strategic with a plan, and he was an expert at maneuvering a conversation. Overall, he had expected the video for ‘J Christ’ to be in sync with his return to making music. He always believed that it was a joke, and he did not wish to upset people. Lil Nas X revealed that he was joining a Biblical Studies program at a university shortly before the release of ‘J Christ’
