Kaixan, a producer, criticised the collaboration between Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd, calling it “the worst song I’ve ever heard”. The two artists subsequently removed his beat from their joint EP, ‘genre: sadboy’. The exchange began after Kaixan tweeted, “the way I just learned I have a beat placement in this this morning and I know it’s bout to be the worst song I’ve ever heard”. He then responded to a tweet from Trippie Redd thanking him for making them aware of the comment. MGK also weighed in, writing, “Played himself for Twitter likes”.
Kaixan retorted by making reference to MGK’s previous comments about Kendall Jenner. “Please redirect trippie hate to mgk cuz I never said I had an issue with bro I just don’t wanna be tied to no minor lover,” he tweeted. This refers to a 2013 interview in which MGK says he thinks Jenner is “hot” and “there is no limits” to what he would do with her.
Alice Glass previously called for MGK to apologise for those comments in 2022.
Kaixan also used the opportunity to defend his actions, saying that “y’all think this funny but name another time a producer has stood by their morals”. He encouraged others to “never stop being true to yourself and true to the music”.
The EP was released on 29 March. That same week, Megan Fox confirmed that she had broken off her engagement to Machine Gun Kelly
