Celebrity Big Brother: David Potts crowned winner of ITV show

Celebrity Big Brother has crowned its first champion in six years with the announcement of reality TV star David Potts as the winner. Potts, who gained fame as a holiday rep on ITV2’s Ibiza Weekender, emerged victorious over fellow finalists Louis Walsh, Fern Briton, Nikita Kuzmin, and Colson Smith. The resurrected show had been cancelled by Channel 5 in 2018 but was revived by ITV, attracting around 2.8 million viewers per episode.

Twelve contestants entered the Big Brother house almost three weeks ago. During the final show, the five remaining housemates had dinner in the living room and reflected on their experiences. Potts thanked everyone for “letting me be me” and expressed his surprise at encountering a group of 12 people who he “genuinely really, really liked” in the house.

Potts had previously appeared in other shows such as Celebs on the Farm, Celebrity Karaoke Club, and Celebrity Ghost Trip. Fellow finalist Louis Walsh also shared his thoughts, saying that he had had “the time of his life” in the house. Walsh generated controversy after previously branding Irish pop duo Jedward “vile”, a comment that received backlash from the singers. Walsh also revealed on the show that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer.
