The Gaslight Anthem has released a heavier version of Billie Eilish’s ‘Ocean Eyes’.
The lead singer of the New Jersey rock band, Brian Fallon, said he was driving his daughter to school when she played him the 2016 hit. Fallon was intrigued, and pitched a heavier version of the Billie Eilish classic to his bandmates. According to Fallon, everyone loved the idea, and they produced the cover with the help of Karina Rykman, a psych-jam bassist and bandleader who provided backing vocals.
Rykman has praised the production by Butch Walker, stating she was “honoured to play a small part”. The Gaslight Anthem’s cover is currently available on their latest EP, ‘History Books – Short Stories’.
The band is currently on tour in the UK and EU. The tour which started in March in Wolverhampton will end in July in Cheltenham. The Gaslight Anthem’s last album, ‘History Books’ released in 2023, marked their first album in nine years.
