Hip hop legends Cypress Hill have announced that they will be playing with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall on July 10th. The collaboration has been a long time coming, with the connection between them first being made in a 1996 episode of The Simpsons. In the episode, Cypress Hill accidentally book the LSO to play with them at Lolapalooza after getting high. Amazingly, the LSO agrees to play “Insane in the Brain” with the hip hop group, leading to one of the show’s most memorable moments.
The dream for many of The Simpsons’ fans has now become a reality. The group has been booked to perform many of their biggest hits from their album Black Sunday, including “Insane in the Brain” and “I Wanna Get High.” Fans in the United States also have something to look forward to as the band announced their We Legalized It tour, set to kick off on April 18 in 2024. The tour will begin in America and will have a pledge of $1 of every ticket sale being donated to the non-profit, progressive drug policy advocate The Last Prisoner Project.
Managing director of LSO, Kathryn McDowell, has commented on the collaboration in a statement saying that “… the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person.” This is undoubtedly a major highlight for fans of both Cypress Hill and the LSO.
This collaboration is not only a dream come true, but it is yet another example of how The Simpsons has managed to predict the future on numerous occasions. It has been another astonishing moment for fans of the hit TV show, that reminds us just how ahead of its time it really is.
Fans of Cypress Hill’s music and LSO’s legendary performances will surely be counting down the days until July 10th. The show will undoubtedly be nothing short of exceptional given both of their track records.
