Adrian Kemp, CEO of Ninja Tune, has temporarily stepped back from his duties while an internal investigation into allegations against him is conducted. The investigation will be carried out by an independent third-party HR company. Although the nature of the allegations remains unconfirmed, a letter from Kemp’s solicitors seen by Mixmag states that he vehemently denies the claims. Until the outcome of the investigation is known, Kemp will work in a support role with a lower profile, while Samantha Sissons and Tess Kendall will step up to his role.
Kemp was appointed director of Ninja Tune in April 2017 before becoming CEO in September of the same year. The outcome of the investigation is yet to be made available, subject to any legal barriers. Ninja Tune has confirmed the investigation is taking place but has given no further comment.
Founded by Matt Black and Jonathan More, Ninja Tune is an independent London-based record label. The company has subsidiaries and distributors in other countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, and France. Its roster covers a wide range of genres such as electronic music, alternative hip hop, and jazz.
