Jack Black, the famous actor who played the role of rock musician Dewey Finn in the 2003 comedy “School of Rock”, has expressed his interest in the possibility of a sequel. In a recent interview, Black confirmed that he would like to do a second movie of the “School of Rock” franchise. He added that he “wished” there would be a “School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo”, referring to the sequel to the film “Breakin’.”

Black mentioned that he would like to have the film’s original writer, Mike White, working on the possible sequel. Mike White starred in the first film as Dewey’s roommate Ned Schneebly. However, White, who is recognized for creating, writing, and directing the hit HBO series, “The White Lotus,” is currently very busy. Black emphasized the importance of having White on board, saying that he is a “genius.”

The “School of Rock” series has been revisited several times in different adaptations. In 2015, a stage musical adaptation of the film opened on Broadway and London’s West End. The musical grossed over $160 million and closed in 2019. In 2014, Nickelodeon announced that it was working to develop a television series based on the film. The show ran for three seasons between 2016 and 2018.

Last year, “School of Rock” marked its 20th anniversary. Black, as a way of celebrating the occasion, confirmed that he would organize a reunion. He emphasized in the recent interview that he is ready and would like to see another “School of Rock” movie, but only if White is also available and agrees to lead the project, so that the brilliance of the original film can be retained and remains entertaining for fans of all ages.

The “School of Rock” film, which also starred Joan Cusack, Sarah Silverman, and Miranda Cosgrove, gained worldwide popularity and owes much of its cult following to its timeless music, humor, and performance. Given the influence and achievements of the original film, a sequel would be readily welcomed by fans worldwide
