Sharon Stone has voiced her criticism towards Johnny Depp’s artwork in a recent interview. The Hollywood star, who shifted her attention to art during the COVID-19 pandemic, just inaugurated her first-ever exhibition in Berlin and is prepping up to launch another one in San Francisco in April.
During a conversation with The Guardian, Stone remarked on Depp’s art collection, which recorded a sale of more than $3.6million within a few hours. The collection, named “Friends And Heroes,” features portraits of individuals who inspired Depp, including Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Al Pacino, and Elizabeth Taylor.
As per Business Insider, Depp sold all 780 pieces of his artwork shortly after he announced that they were on sale at Castle Fine Art’s 37 galleries in Birmingham, England. However, Stone was not fond of the portraits, stating, “Johnny Depp is printing pictures of people, putting some paint over it and signing it, and making a fortune.”
Depp followed up on the original piece with more prints in 2023, featuring other renowned faces, such as Bob Marley, Heath Ledger, and River Phoenix. Although Depp donated $200 from every sale of his self-portrait to Mental Health America, Stone had received several similar requests from galleries and refuted them, citing her desire to push the door open for other women and hold it further.
