The 1.6 update for the popular farming simulation game Stardew Valley is set to release today. Fans of the game have been eagerly anticipating the update, which is expected to bring new features and improvements to the game. The creator of the game, Eric Barone, who goes by the name ConcernedApe, has revealed that many mods should be compatible with the update right away.
In a recent tweet, Barone recommended trying out the update without mods initially, but also stated that a public steam branch will allow players to stay on version 1.5.6 if they choose. Barone also shared a link to a site with a list of mods and their compatibility with the latest version of the game. Some mods that are no longer functional include 24h Clock, 2Cute FarmCave, Adjustable Stamina Healing, Children Like Parents, Eat More, and More TV Channel. Popular mods that still work include Content Patcher, NPC Map Locations, Farm Type Manager, Skull Cavern Elevator, Skip Fishing Minigame, and Visible Fish.
While some of the mods on the list are no longer maintained by their original creators, others may be updated if the creators choose to do so. Barone has released previous updates that have added lots of mod support, so it is unsurprising that many mods still work just fine.
One of the biggest additions coming to the 1.6 update is a new farm type called the Meadowlands Farm. It boasts blue grass and will come with a coop and two chickens. This new feature could be a huge boost to players who are typically starting out with less. However, console players will have to wait for the update, as it is currently only releasing on PC.
Overall, fans of Stardew Valley have a lot to look forward to with the 1.6 update. While some mods may not be compatible with the latest version of the game, players still have options when it comes to how they want to experience the update
