John Grant is releasing his sixth album ‘The Art of the Lie’ along with sharing his lead single ‘It’s A Bitch.’ The album will be available for purchase on June 14 via Bella Union, and it is available for pre-order/pre-save. Additionally, Grant is also announcing a UK and European tour, taking place in October and November with tickets being available from March 20.

‘It’s A Bitch’ is a catchy electro-funk track that Grant had a blast making. The song is about fun with words, synths, rhythms, and bass lines. Grant was also poking fun at post-COVID malaise; using the track to encourage people to ponder what a ‘hesher’ could be. Grant loved going to the arcade in the 80s and watching smokin’-hot heshers hold court while playing Tempest, Stargate, Robotron, and Asteroids. The track also includes a hilarious video accompanying it.

‘The Art Of The Lie’ began to come together in 2022, where Grant met the producer Ivor Guest (Grace Jones, Beyoncé) at Meltdown Festival. Describing the album’s sound, Grant compares it to Vangelis’ score for Blade Runner, or “the Carpenters if John Carpenter was also a member.” Grant goes on to say, “The clothing that it’s dressed up in makes it more palatable. It helps the bitter pill go down. Music and humour are how I’ve always dealt with the dark side of life. Come to think of it, it’s how I deal with the good side too.”

Finally, John Grant will play the following UK and European shows for his tour: London, Hackney Church; Sunderland, Fire Station; Glasgow, Barrowland; Dublin, Vicar Street; Cardiff, The Tramshed; Bristol, Beacon Hall; Bexhill-on-Sea, De La Warr Pavilion; Birmingham, Town Hall; Norwich, Epic Studios; Leeds, Project House; Liverpool, Philharmonic Hall; Amsterdam, Melkweg; Cologne, Kulturkirche; Berlin, Columbia Theatre; Aarhus, Train; Copenhagen, Vega; Stockholm, Nalen; and Oslo, Rockefeller Music Hall. In the past, Grant’s last album came out in 2021 and was titled ‘Boy From Michigan.
