Kid Cudi and Boosie Badazz have responded to recent comments made by Kanye West where he claimed to have “invented every style of music of the past 20 years.” Last week, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign sat down with Big Boy to talk about their ‘Vultures’ album trilogy. In the interview, West took credit for creating various music genres including those of The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Drake, Future and Young Thug. He also claimed to have created a new genre called the “making your own money genre”. When Badazz saw the clip of the interview, he commented that Ye couldn’t relate to his music or anything he raps about.

Ye responded to Badazz’s statement a day later on his Instagram stories where he wrote, “I just saw that [Badazz’s seminal highest-selling single] ‘Wipe Me Down’ was made in 2007… I take no responsibility for whatever that genre would be called.” The question of who popularised the use of auto-tune in rap music is a controversial one. Many fans credit T-Pain as the artist who brought the feature into the mainstream in the 2000s, and he even worked with West on ‘Good Life’ from his 2007 album ‘Graduation’.

Kid Cudi is suspected to have also responded to West’s claims by reposting a screenshot of the Wikipedia page for West’s album ‘808s & Heartbreak’ on his social media. The page read, “Kid Cudi’s sound is what inspired and led Kanye West to create his cathartic ‘808s & Heartbreak’, with West later stating that he and Cudi were ‘the originators of the style, kinda like what Alexander McQueen is to fashion.’”

Fans are still waiting for West and Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures 2’ album. The duo released ‘Vultures 1’ on February 10 this year and have been performing their songs at ‘Vultures Listening Experience’ concerts with some of the featured artists from the album. This includes Ye’s daughter, North West, who announced she will soon be releasing her first-ever album, ‘Elementary School Dropout’. She made her rap debut on ‘TALKING’ which is the lead single for ‘Vultures 1’
