Lefto Early Bird has released his debut album, “Motherless Father,” featuring 10 tracks on Gilles Peterson’s London-based label, Brownswood Recordings. The album includes singles previously released by the artist and showcases Lefto’s introspective and poetic side. It draws heavily from jazz, featuring both electronic elements and live instruments, alongside naturalistic and distorted vocals. The album is currently available to stream online.
Lefto will be hosting a number of album launch parties in Paris, Belgium, and London. Each event will celebrate the album and, as described by the artist himself, be “a deep pre-club record that will give you the energy to go out there and party but with a feeling of letting go of everything.” Lefto is no stranger to major music festivals, having previously performed with the likes of Robert Glasper, Thundercat, and Badbadnotgood.
“Motherless Father” features a range of collaborations, including vocalist Iman Houssein who draws from traditional folk songs, German duo ain’t about me, and DJ and multi-instrumentalist Simbad. Simbad shared on Instagram that Lefto put “his heart & soul” into the record.
Lefto continues to broadcast on numerous radio stations, including The Lot Radio, Kiosk Radio, and Worldwide FM, which helped him gain a following. In addition to performing at festivals, Lefto is a Horst Festival resident and is set to perform in this year’s edition of the Brussels festival, alongside the likes of Octo Octa, Shy One, and Skream & Benga.
