During a recent broadcast, Fox News host Tucker Carlson was tricked into interviewing a prankster who posed as a UK royal family whistleblower. Archie Manners, a YouTuber, tricked the show by claiming to be a “producer of digital content” fired for poorly photoshopping the infamous Mother’s Day photo of Kate Middleton last week. Manners had given the show a forged document as proof of employment that stated Kensington Palace had the right to amputate one of his limbs should he fail his probation period and the requirement of an edit to the previously edited image of Kate.
According to reports, Manners was able to get onto the show because he “stroked” his ego with a “bullshit” claim that the mainstream media in the UK wouldn’t touch it. During the interview clip with Manners, Carlson had stated, “We’ve done our best to verify that your identity is what you say it is. You’re not a fake [Alexei] Navalny or doing a prank.” Carlson also stated after the interview that it was really interesting and that he did not expect to be as interested in it as he was.
Last month Jon Stewart criticised Carlson for going to Russia to interview Vladimir Putin, the first Putin has given to a Western journalist since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Stewart savaged Carlson for failing to challenge some of Putin’s assertions and for disingenuously arguing that Russian citizens have an advantage over Americans because groceries are cheaper. Carlson claimed that this made him feel “radicalised.” However, Stewart retorted, stating that “You’re such a dick” and informed Carlson of the economic context, such as the fact that Russians earn less than $200 dollars per week.
