Seal has called out an electroacoustic harpist for her video showing her cleaning a guitar pedal in the sink. Emily Hopkins, who shared the video on her Instagram, demonstrated herself washing her pedal with soap and water. Hopkins amused herself by using a toothbrush to clean the circuit board. In the end, she announced that she would be giving away one of her favourite Uni-Vibe pedals, the Eventide Riptide pedal, to one lucky winner, stating that all they need to do is like the video, tag a friend, and comment “This is exactly how I clean my pedals.”
Seal, the ‘Kiss from a Rose’ singer, saw the video and was not amused by the gag. “What was the point of doing it? I get it’s a parody, but it’s not a very good one,” Seal commented on the post. In response, Hopkins apologised, saying, “Sorry Mr. Seal.” She later shared a screenshot of the memorable moment and posted it on her official Threads account, writing, “Seal™️ giving me s**t on Instagram was not on my 2024 bingo card.”
Following that, Seal commented back on her Instagram post, saying, “I’m so sorry, Emily, I do think you’re not only funny but also an exceptional musician! I would love to collaborate one of these days.” In other news, last year, the V&A East Museum announced that it would launch an exhibition celebrating Black British music.
