The game Satisfactory is about to turn five years old and to celebrate, the community has decided to organise a tournament on March 16. The event is centred around a factory simulator and is completely community-driven. The unique challenges that participants will compete in during the celebrations will include parkour, puzzle-solving, art, and more.

The game’s developer, Coffee Stain, will enter a developer team to compare their skills with those of the community members. The event is being organised by a community member named Barry, who spoke to NME about their responsibilities. Barry is working as part of the technical development team and dealing with graphics, social media, liaising with participating teams, and supporting the tournament backstage. Barry is pleased to have the developer team joining in the fun as it strengthens the bond between Coffee Stain and the Satisfactory community.

The challenges in the tournament are diverse, and the technical aspects of organising such a show are more challenging. There is a need to have several feeds to provide high-quality viewing from different viewpoints. This demands consideration for intuitive, secure, and stable streaming solutions that enable viewers to tap into various feeds. Previous events have provided learning opportunities for Barry to freely address technical challenges such as memory and CPU issues and ensure the stream runs smoothly.

Community manager Treptow is positive about the impact of the event. Although Coffee Stain has helped community efforts reach more gamers through social media, Treptow emphasises the importance of allowing the community to organise and regulate itself during these events. The door is always open for these kinds of community events at Coffee Stain. However, he said the game developer has no plan of starting a challenge show any time soon.

If you’d like to watch the Satisfactory tournament, you can view it via the Satisfactory Events Twitch channel on March 16th, at 2 pm GMT or keep up with updates on the Satisfactory Events X page
