A recent update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has implemented changes to the Longbow sniper rifle, making it less effective at close ranges. The latest patch notes state that the hipfire spread benefit has been removed and aim down sight time increased by 21%, from 390ms to 470ms. This alteration means that players will now find it much harder to use the Longbow for quick-scoping up close and personal, which was the weapon’s most popular strategy.

The Longbow had become a hot favourite among players over recent months, but this nerf is likely to see a drop in its popularity. As the weapon is not the best option for long-range sniping, Longbow users who have been running and gunning on smaller maps, such as Shipment, will need to adjust their tactics in response to the update.

In addition to the Longbow nerf, the patch notes include bug fixes to the user interface, such as ensuring that Prestige Challenges no longer disappear from the Calling Cards menu. Offline seasonal content will now also match the available content shown in the online mode, and Private matches have their maximum player count increased from 12 to 24.

Since the start of season two on March 6, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players have experienced new storylines for the game’s zombies mode, Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine skins, and new points of interest on Warzone map Fortune’s Keep.

However, the Illinois police department recently issued an apology after using an offensive recruitment poster inspired by Call of Duty. The poster sparked controversy for seemingly encouraging police to shoot people and was quickly removed from social media following significant backlash.
