Olivia Munn reveals breast cancer diagnosis

Actress Olivia Munn has taken to social media to reveal that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last April. In a post shared yesterday, March 13, the X-Men: Apocalypse star said she took a genetic test in February 2020 in order to stay mindful of her health. While she passed the test, Munn found out two months later that she had breast cancer.

Munn’s doctors discovered her lifetime risk was at 37%, leading to a series of tests that showed Luminal B cancer in both breasts. The actress underwent a double mastectomy surgery a month after her biopsy. “I’m lucky. We caught it with enough time that I had options. I want the same for any woman who might have to face this one day,” she said.

After keeping her diagnosis private for ten months, Munn is now urging women to have their Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score calculated. According to Dr. Aliabadi, Munn’s doctor, if their score is greater than 20 per cent, they should have annual mammograms and breast MRIs starting at age 30.

Olivia Munn has been in Ride Along 2, Date Night, Magic Mike, New Girl, and is best known for her roles as Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse and Casey Brackett in 2018’s The Predator
