Guy Chambers, the producer and songwriter known for working with some of pop’s biggest acts, such as Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner, and Robbie Williams, recently spoke to NME about his thoughts on modern-day songwriters and his time working with Williams. Chambers emphasized his love for classical music and how it influenced his pop music career. He shared that he started in commercial music as a member of various bands in the 80s and 90s, including The Waterboys and World Party.
Chambers also spoke about his experience with his short-lived group, The Lemon Trees, and how they were offered numerous record deals, including one with The Beatles’ label. However, when he informed the band’s then-lead singer that they had the potential for a deal, he declined. Chambers also mentioned that working with Williams on his second album, ‘I’ve Been Expecting You,’ “saved” his career, and they both needed each other at the time.
