A tragedy has occurred during a holiday in Grenada involving a British couple. Rosaline Foster, 76, is said to have drowned attempting to save her husband, David John, 77, after he had become distressed in the sea. The Royal Grenada Police Force believe that David may have had a heart attack while in the water at Paradise Beach near the village of L’Esterre on the island of Carriacou. Police discovered David on the sand and pronounced him dead. Rosaline was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The couple had been on holiday with other family members when the incident occurred. They are believed to have been retired. The Royal Grenada Police Force is continuing to investigate the event. Cpl Ardell Lewis said that “the basic facts seem to suggest the man may have suffered a heart attack and the lady may have gone to his assistance, and she probably would have drowned”.
Paradise Beach is famous for its exceptionally clear and turquoise waters; it was awarded the best Caribbean beach in 2022. Carriacou, of which Paradise Beach is a part, is the second-largest island in the state of Grenada. The UK Foreign Office has been contacted for a statement on the incident.
Police have announced that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death for the couple. Despite the tragic event, Paradise Beach and Carriacou remain popular travel destinations for tourists seeking a perfect Caribbean getaway
