Taylor Swift Disney+ project at Hollywood sign cancelled

Local residents have caused a planned production between Taylor Swift and Disney+ to be cancelled due to complaints. The three-day shoot was set to take place at the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, but residents were worried about the disruption it would cause. The filming was supposed to occur ahead of Swift’s concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version), which is scheduled to be released on Disney+. It is believed several organisations and home associations had concerns about the plan.

According to a permit obtained by The Daily Mail, the crew was scheduled to prepare for the shoot all day yesterday, with a full day of shooting and then a final full day to take the set down. This permit also informed the residents of the use of “aerial photography with remote control aircraft.” Reports have stated that various home associations and organisations complained about the production, but Disney and the production team have not confirmed the official reason for the cancellation.

Swift’s Eras Tour movie’s latest version, which will include her performance of “Cardigan,” will be released on Disney+ on March 14. The original cut of the film, which earned critical acclaim and more than £204million ($260million) in the box office, did not feature the song. In a review of the concert film, NME wrote: “It’s a staggering feat. In the space of one seamless performance, Swift is at turns a playfully eccentric artist, a country star, and a genuine pop icon.”

Swift had recently closed out the Singapore leg of her world tour, and her appearance was forecast to boost the country’s GDP by over £155million ($200million)
