Ryan Gosling brings ‘I’m Just Ken’ to the 2024 Oscars

At the 2024 Oscars ceremony, Ryan Gosling performed a star-studded rendition of Barbie’s “I’m Just Ken” alongside Mark Ronson. Despite weeks of uncertainty surrounding his participation, Gosling took to the stage in an all-pink Barbie-inspired outfit, performing against a backdrop of pink hues with an ensemble of backup dancers as Ronson played guitar. Other cast members from the Barbie film, including Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Scott Evans, joined Gosling on stage to dance.

During the song’s build, the camera panned to Guns N’ Roses’ Slash ripping through a guitar solo, with Wolfgang Van Halen supporting. As Gosling walked around the theater floor, he handed the mic to Greta Gerwig, Barbie director and Margot Robbie, Barbie herself and America Ferrera to sing along. Emma Stone, Gosling’s co-star from La La Land chimed in as well.

Earlier in the awards show, Billie Eilish and Finneas performed “What Was I Made For,” a cut from the Barbie film. After Gosling’s performance, Eilish and Finneas accepted the award for Best Song for the same track.
