France overpower Wales in Six Nations thriller

In a thrilling Six Nations match in Cardiff, France secured a resounding victory over Wales. Les Bleus bagged eight tries in total, with Gael Fickou, Nolann Le Garrec, Georges-Henri Colombe, Romain Taofifenua and Maxime Lucu all contributing to the tally. Thomas Ramos secured an impressive 20 points as France overpowered winless Wales, scoring 25 unanswered points in the final quarter. Wales tried to come back with Rio Dyer, Tomos Williams and Joe Roberts all managing tries, but they were ultimately outmuscled in the second half.

This was an 11th defeat in 12 Six Nations games for Wales, which has them rooted to the bottom of the table and facing the possibility of being awarded their first Six Nations Wooden Spoon since 2003. The loss sees France move up to fourth place, having bounced back from a draw with Italy earlier in the campaign, and marks a sixth successive loss to France for Wales.

Les Bleus’ total of 45 points in Cardiff represented their highest points-tally in Wales. Warren Gatland’s side now face Italy in their final match of this year’s Six Nations in Cardiff, while France will host England in Lyon, and Scotland travel to face leaders Ireland.
