The Gentlemen, a new Netflix series based on Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, has been released on the streaming platform. The spin-off stars Theo James as Eddie Halstead, who inherits an estate of 15,000 acres and the title of Duke of Halstead from his deceased father. He discovers that the land is part of Mickey Pearson’s cannabis empire. Pearson was played by Matthew McConaughey in Ritchie’s original film, which also starred Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Jeremy Strong, and Michelle Dockery.

The series stars predominantly British acting heavyweights, including Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Peter Serafinowicz, Ray Winstone, and Vinnie Jones. The score for The Gentlemen series was created by British film composer Christopher Benstead, who has previously worked with Ritchie on The Covenant and the upcoming film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The show features a blend of music, both old and new, and opera.

The following songs are included in The Gentlemen series:
-Episode 1: ‘Old McDonald’ by Ella Fitzgerald
-Episode 2: ‘I Wish a Bitch Would’ by Delilah Bon and ‘Oh Shit’ by The Pharcyde
-Episode 3: ‘Baddest MF’ by Zae
-Episode 5: ‘Ride or Die (Hard Mix)’ by HI-LO & Eli Brown and ‘Starting Fires’ by Lazy Habits
-Episode 7: ‘Innocence’ by Gabriels, ‘Woohaa’ by Kojey Radical, and ‘The Lost Soul’ by The Handsome Family
-Episode 8: ‘Nothing is Safe’ by clipping.

There has been no announcement from Netflix about whether The Gentlemen will return for a second season. The show’s future will likely depend on its audience reception. The original 2020 film is not currently available to watch on Netflix, but it can be rented or purchased on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, or physically bought.

Ritchie directed the first two episodes of the series and said, “The world of The Gentlemen is a little bit of me. We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories, and I am excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast.
