A new vinyl record has been released by Roland and Serato, dedicated to the iconic TB-303 Bass Line and TR-606 Drumatix Control synthesisers. The 12-inch vinyl features performances from J.Rocc, DJ Haus, Fast Eddie and Shadow Child, each of whom used the classic instruments in their early career. The vinyl was created to celebrate 303 Day, a day which honours the role of the 303 synthesizer in music history and its impact on electronic music. The Serato website describes the vinyl as a “time capsule and toolkit”, a tribute to a bygone era of hardware-driven music-making.
J.Rocc commented on the release, stating: “A trip back in time, but also relevant to today’s scene.” The vinyl is described as a collector’s edition for hardware enthusiasts and music lovers alike. Synthtopia reports that the vinyl was pre-recorded with a range of loops and patterns to inspire new music-making, whilst also including tracks created by J.Rocc, DJ Haus, Fast Eddie, and Shadow Child to showcase the potential of the synthesisers.
The double-pressed vinyl was pre-mastered to enhance quality and uses serato noise map technology for improved audio resolution. The vinyl’s creators hope that this special edition release will remind music makers and music lovers of the impact and legacy of the pioneering synthesisers that helped lay the foundation for modern electronic music.
