Jack Antonoff recently spoke about his experiences working with Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, describing the collaborations as “magic.” In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, Antonoff praised the two singers and their ability to consistently deliver in the studio. He joked that every time they work on something new, he thinks to himself, “I guess we still got it.”
The Grammy-winning producer revealed that he feels a lot of “magic” when working with Swift and Del Rey, although he is unsure how long it will last. According to Antonoff, the more they work together, the less he expects it to continue, and he is grateful that the spark is still there. He added that anyone who claims to know where the magic comes from or goes usually burns out pretty quickly.
Antonoff also spoke about a surreal experience he had working with Del Rey on her critically acclaimed 2019 album, “Norman Fucking Rockwell!” when they worked on “Mariners Apartment Complex”. He recalled being blown away as he watched Lana write the track’s chorus in real-time as she sang in the booth. Antonoff was instantly convinced of the brilliance of the composition.
Antonoff is a prolific musician, songwriter and producer, and has won several prestigious awards for his work. He most recently won the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical award at the 2024 Grammys. His band, Bleachers, dropped their self-titled fourth album earlier this month, which received a glowing four-star review from Rhian Daly for NME.
