11 Bit Studios has announced that the sequel to its popular city-building survival game, Frostpunk, is set to be released this summer. Originally introduced to the public in 2021, Frostpunk 2 is set 30 years after a catastrophic blizzard destroyed Earth. With players tasked with leading a resource-hungry metropolis, the need for expansion and the search for new sources of power becomes a reality.
Jakub Stokalski, co-director on Frostpunk 2, commented, “What we aim to deliver to players is an experience that goes vastly beyond that of the original Frostpunk. Our ambition is to do more than a straight-up sequel.” The Steam listing for Frostpunk 2 describes a city-survival game where players must face a new deadly threat “that appears on the horizon – human nature and its unsatiated thirst for power.”
A beta version of the game will be available in April, and pre-orders for the deluxe digital edition, which includes exclusive access to the game’s story mode for 72 hours before its official release, are now open. Frostpunk 2 is set to launch on July 25 and will be available on Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Recently, Xbox announced that Control Ultimate Edition would be among the new games added to its Game Pass service this March
