Kamasi Washington has unveiled his seventh studio album, ‘Fearless Movement,’ accompanied by its lead single, ‘Prologue.’ The track encapsulates Washington’s signature jazz style and features his flute, trumpet, and tight drum beats. AG Rojas and Samantha Blake Goodman’s synchronized choreography can be seen in the accompanying video. The album includes several artists such as George Clinton, Thundercat, BJ The Chicago Kid, Andre 3000, D-Smoke, Taj, and Ras Austin of Coast Contra, Terrace Martin, Patrice Quinn, Brandon Coleman, and DJ Battlecat.
Washington emphasized the significance of dance in music creation, stating that “dance is movement and expression, and in a way it’s the same thing as music—expressing your spirit through your body. That’s what this album is pushing.” Besides, the album also comprises a segment dedicated to the musicians’ day-to-day experiences, inspired by the birth of his first child years ago.
Fearless Movement is set to release on May 3rd via Young. Washington promulgated its 12 songs track list. The musician also played the song ‘The Garden Path’ for the first time while marking his late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in early 2022. Following the release of his album, Kamasi Washington will begin his tour across the United States, beginning on May 4th at the Beacon Theatre in New York.
The segment will span across Philadelphia, Chicago, Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival, San Francisco, Austin, Santa Cruz, among the other major American states before concluding in Alexandria, Virginia. The acclaimed jazz musician’s tour is anticipated to sell-out, and tickets are available for purchase through Ticketmaster
