The debut album of rapper Ice Spice, titled ‘Y2K’, has been confirmed as finished. The New York rapper made the announcement on social media with an image of herself alongside the caption: “i finished recording y2k the album ^.^” A release date has yet to be specified for the highly anticipated album, although Ice Spice has said in the past that it would be released in the year 2024.
The artist also revealed that a major collaboration has been set in stone at the time of a previous announcement, although the other artist has not been named yet. The new album ‘Y2K’ follows her debut EP, ‘Like..?’, which was released in January 2023. The EP delivered some viral hits which included ‘In Ha Mood’ and ‘Munch (Feelin’ U)’. The release was awarded four stars by NME, with reviews editor, Thomas Smith, praising her sardonic delivery and confidence.
Smith remarked that the post-viral breakout period seems to be a crucial time to weather for the artist. Reaching longevity is attainable but can be challenging since casual listeners and even some fans can be ambiguous. Yet Ice Spice appears unbothered about the pursuit of fans or chasing clout on the EP. She seems to know that they will come around eventually anyway.
