It has been reported that genealogy company Ancestry.com has identified American singer Taylor Swift as the sixth cousin, three times removed of the famous poet Emily Dickinson. Research by Ancestry.com shows that the two are connected through a 17th Century English immigrant who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut. Taylor Swift’s ancestors stayed in Connecticut for six generations before moving to northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line. Dickinson was born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts, and was one of America’s most important poets. She lived her life in seclusion and published her writing anonymously.
In a speech made in 2022 while receiving the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade Award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International, Swift referenced Dickinson, saying: “If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre.”
Swift also recently revealed the final variant of her upcoming album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ entitled ‘File Name: The Black Dog.’ This variant will include the full original album, along with a bonus track called ‘The Black Dog.’ All variations of ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ including the original, are set for release on April 19.
Swift also announced a new release time for ‘The Eras Tour (My Version),’ which will be available on streaming. The concert film will now be available a few hours earlier than expected, and will feature Swift’s performance of ‘Cardigan,’ as well as four new acoustic songs.
