Taylor Swift fans are eagerly anticipating the release of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, and the artist has now revealed the final variant of the forthcoming album. During her concert in Singapore on 3 March, Swift announced ‘File Name: The Black Dog’, which will include the original album alongside ‘The Black Dog’ bonus track. The variant can now be pre-ordered from the singer’s website. The announcement marks the fourth and final variant for the album. The three other variants revealed so far are ‘The Manuscript’, ‘The Bolter’ and ‘The Albatross’.
Swift announced the new album when accepting a Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Midnights’ in 2024. This will be her 11th studio album, following previous releases ‘Midnights’, ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’ (which she has re-recorded). Featuring collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is set for release on 19 April.
In addition to the album news, Swift treated audiences in Singapore to a live premiere of ‘Long Story Short’, a track from her 2020 album ‘Evermore’. The song was included in the concert’s ‘Surprise Songs’ segment, alongside a mash-up of ‘The Story of Us’.
Swift recently changed her approach to the segment on her ‘Eras’ tour, by scrapping her “no repeats” rule. “I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward,” she said. “From now on, I don’t wanna take any paint colours out of the paint box of colours. I want to be able to play songs more than once if I feel like it, and I wanna be able to make changes to songs.”
The artwork for ‘The Black Dog’ variant features Swift holding her head, with the words “Old habits die screaming…” on the back cover.
