West Mercia Police have arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the death of a 58-year-old woman and the life-threatening injuries sustained by a 39-year-old woman at a Worcester property. Emergency services responded to a call in Haresfield Close on 20th November at approximately 8:30 pm. The younger woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, and the older one was declared dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding, from the Police’s Homicide Unit, stated that “incidents of this nature can be alarming”, but “I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.” Police presence will be dense in the area as the investigation continues.

The force has requested that anyone with knowledge of criminal activity in the Worcester area come forward and share any information that could be useful. In addition, anyone who has witnessed such activity should contact 999 in case of urgent assistance.
