Clapham shooting: Two women hurt when gun dropped in moped pursuit

Police have confirmed that two women were accidentally shot during a police chase in Clapham on Friday. Officers were pursuing two individuals on a moped who failed to pull over at approximately 4:55 pm, when the moped collided with a member of the public. The police have said that the shotgun went off as it struck the ground after having been dropped by one of the suspects. The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot from the scene, which occurred in St. Alphonsus Road. The victims were two women, aged 27 and 36, and they did not suffer targeted gunshot injuries according to the police.

The Metropolitan Police have stated that all three individuals involved were released from the hospital, and are now seeking the suspects responsible for the accident. The shotgun used in the incident has been recovered and will undergo forensic analysis. The police have set up crime scenes in St. Alphonsus Road, and are currently conducting forensic searches of the premises where the suspects fled through gardens. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger has been confirmed as the lead investigator for the case and has pledged to pursue the case relentlessly, following every potential lead to catch those responsible.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward and have also warned about the dangers of such reckless behavior. The shotgun used in this incident could have caused far more harm had it been intentionally fired.
