Bristol deaths: Woman detained under Mental Health Act

A woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act after being arrested on suspicion of murdering three children in Sea Mills, Bristol. The bodies of Fares Bash, seven, Joury Bash, three, and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash, were discovered on 18 February. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the woman had been assessed by medical experts before her detention. The investigation into the deaths is ongoing, the force added.

The woman was arrested at a Blaise Walk property in the early hours of Sunday 18 February, after which she was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening physical injuries. She has continued to receive treatment and was detained after medical professionals assessed her on 28 February. The three children had died from knife wounds.

The Bristol community has united in sorrow over the loss. At a vigil held in Sea Mills Square last week, hundreds of people laid flowers and lit candles in remembrance of the children. The police are continuing their investigations into the tragic incident.
