Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman lands debut mix on NTS Radio

Alfie Whiteman, who plays as a reserve goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur F.C., has debuted his first-ever mix on NTS Radio. The London station announced the news on Monday, with Whiteman’s hour-long mix encompassing soul, psychedelic rock, folk, and jazz. It includes tracks from Cocteau Twins, Elliot Smith, and Floating Points, among others. Whiteman, who has been sharing his photography and film work on Instagram under the handle ‘Alfie’ for over five years, has previously spoken about his love of jazz music and preference for seeing his favourite acts in intimate clubs.

Despite the fact that the 25-year-old goalkeeper recently signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2025 and played for the team in 2020’s game against Ludogorets Razgrad, he still found the time to put together a mix showcasing what he’s been listening to this month. While there’s no word yet on whether Whiteman will have his own residency on NTS, his show marks his first foray into radio mixes.

Whiteman is not the first footballer to try his hand at DJing. Manchester City’s Jack Grealish made his DJ debut last year alongside Oliver Heldens under the name DJ Grealo, while house DJ and Defected signee Monki plays semi-professionally for Dulwich Hamlet F.C. Whiteman’s mix can be heard below.
