A new independent bookshop is being launched in London by the publisher Velocity Press. This new bookshop will be located on Rye Lane and specifically catered towards electronic music and club culture literature. The publisher stated that their new store will provide enthusiasts with a physical space to truly immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of electronic music culture. The shop is planned to offer a “curated” selection of books, posters, and artwork such as a gallery.
The bookshop is set to have an extensive collection of books covering a wide scope of electronic genres and club culture. Moreover, the book inventory will range from biographies to how-to guides for customers wanting to get into electronic music and music production. Velocity Press has published over 30 books and zines since 2019, with many more scheduled for release this year, including its first audiobook, A Darker Electricity.
Velocity Press aims to create a sense of community to dance music fans by hosting a variety of events such as book signings, workshops, art exhibitions, and panel discussions at their new store. The events are designed to provide valuable opportunities for networking, learning, and sharing insights with like-minded individuals. The shop opening is expected to further solidify Velocity Press’s resources and sense of community with dance music fans.
Colin Steven, the owner of Velocity Press, expressed excitement over the opening of their new store, saying, “We are thrilled to unveil our very own bookshop, dedicated exclusively to electronic music literature. With the opening of this store, committed enthusiasts will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of electronic music that is so rich and vast.” Opening times and more information on the flagship shop can be found on Velocity Press’s website
