Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming musical film, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” was reportedly turned down by several high-profile musicians and actors, including Lizzo, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, and Snoop Dogg. In response to claims made by the film’s casting director that Lizzo was unavailable to star in the film, Lizzo responded via TikTok, saying she had never been asked to cameo in the film. Other celebrities who were asked to participate in the film but ultimately declined include Vanessa Hudgens and Khloe Kardashian.
Lopez’s new film is meant to be a visual representation of her past relationships and reunion with husband Ben Affleck and is a visual accompaniment to her “This Is Me…Now” album. It is said to replace the concept of music videos for the album. In a recent Q&A with producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez revealed that Ben Affleck was a “reluctant” participant in the making of the documentary and was a “silent participant” throughout.
Despite Affleck’s reservations, Lopez emphasized the importance of showing vulnerability in her work and explained that being human and expressing those raw emotions is a scary thing to do. “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story” is currently in production and is expected to be released soon. Meanwhile, fans eagerly await Lizzo’s next move after her successful 2019 album “Cuz I Love You” and hit song “Truth Hurts.
