Charli XCX has dropped her first single from her upcoming album ‘Brat’. The song, titled ‘Von Dutch’, is produced by Easyfun and boasts a heavy synth that assists in creating an upbeat tempo. The music video, directed by Torso, centers around the singer as she tries to make her way to a plane while being followed by paparazzi. Charli has spoken about the fact that ‘Brat’ will be a dance record that goes back to her roots in club music.
The album is set to clock in at 15 songs and just over 41 minutes long, with no single track outshining the other. Previous to the release, Charli had shared snippets of the music on her social media. The track serves as the first single from her sixth album, coming after her 2022 album ‘Crash’. The singer previously stated that she “was born to make dance music…i came from the clubs..xcx6 is the album i’ve always wanted to make.”
Charli XCX has collaborated with the late DJ and producer SOPHIE on various projects and played a tribute to her during her recent performance in New York. SOPHIE passed away in 2021 aged 34 in a tragic accident. Charli and SOPHIE have collaborated on various occasions, with SOPHIE credited as a co-producer on Charli’s ‘Vroom Vroom’ and ‘Pop 2’ EPs.
The singer performed ‘Von Dutch’ along with other unreleased tracks such as ‘Get Into It (Spring Breakers)’ at her recent Boiler Room set in New York City. The event was first announced this month on Charli’s social media and included artists such as A.G. Cook, George Daniel, and Easyfun
