Reneé Rapp speaks out on being “drugged” and assaulted in hotel

Reneé Rapp, known for her role in “Mean Girls” and as a singer-songwriter, spoke in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about an “incredibly traumatic experience” she had two years ago. Rapp revealed how she was drugged and assaulted in a hotel room, resulting in her waking up alone in The Beverly Hilton with blood on her pants. The singer explained how the experience had inspired her to write a track called “Snow Angel,” which she performed on Saturday Night Live last month. The performance reflected how she woke up, on the floor in a red dress, with snow gently falling around her.

Rapp went on to explain how the event had left her unable to remember what had happened but nonetheless, the impact had changed her perception of those she was with that night. “I just recently started to be like, ‘Wait, the people that let this happen to me suck’, she explained.” Spoiling the relationship she once had with some of the people surrounding her, leaving her to regret the poor influence they held within her life.

While Rapp’s experience was entirely traumatic, she felt that lack of awareness was a significant contributing factor explaining, “I would love to have had more emphasis on what assault was and how to handle it.” She feels that educating those around the issue is a crucial factor in preventing the problem from occurring on such a large scale.

Following the release of her debut album, Snow Angel, Rapp performed at Reading & Leeds in 2024. She also recently performed with Megan Thee Stallion on Saturday Night Live, with their collaboration of “Not My Fault.” Despite her past events, Reneé Rapp always seems to find new ways of thriving and reaching triumph in her career
