Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been cleared of allegations of inappropriate and controlling behaviour towards a female colleague, following an eight-week internal investigation. Red Bull has stated that it is confident the investigation has been fair, rigorous and impartial. Although the complainant has the right of appeal, no details of the allegations or investigation have been released by Red Bull.
Horner, who has led Red Bull since 2005, will remain in his role as team principal and chief executive of Red Bull F1. The accusations of inappropriate behaviour first emerged on 5 February. The decision by Red Bull follows a meeting of the company’s board of directors last week.
The investigation into Horner’s conduct was a topic of discussion at the Bahrain Grand Prix with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff calling for transparency and Lewis Hamilton claiming the investigation was a “really important moment to make sure we stand true to our values.” US car giant Ford, set to be Red Bull’s engine partner from 2026, expressed frustration over Red Bull’s lack of clarity and transparency regarding the matter.
Horner has won seven drivers’ championships and six constructors’ championships with Red Bull since he started on the F1 grid in 2005. He received an OBE in 2013 and was appointed a CBE last year after overseeing Red Bull’s record-breaking 2020 season.
