It was announced yesterday that Nintendo will be releasing a new Pokémon game titled Pokémon Legends Z-A in 2025. The announcement came as part of the annual Pokemon Day celebrations, and fans were surprised for a few reasons. Firstly, Game Freak had been hinting at a remake of Pokémon Black & White following the success of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in 2021. Secondly, Nintendo had not confirmed that Legends: Arceus was anything more than a standalone title. Despite this, a new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, which is the Parisian-inspired central city of Pokémon X & Pokémon Y, where an urban redevelopment plan is under way to shape the city into a place where both people and Pokémon can belong.

The official description of the game states that players will be taken back to Lumiose City to experience the new adventure. Mega-evolutions will also be returning, which is a fan-favorite feature that has not been seen since 2014’s Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A has created speculation among fans as to whether they will be time traveling into the future because of the futuristic look of Lumiose City. Those excited to play the game will have to wait until 2025, but it is sure to be a much-anticipated release.

The trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A features Pokemon from generation six with Aegislash, Litleo, Pyroar, Klefki, Talonflame, Furfrou, Gogoat, Fletchling, Sylveon, Espurr, Flabébé, and Hawlucha, alongside a lot of Pikachu action. Some classic Pokémon like Dragonair, Gyrados, and Pidgy also feature. Although the Pokémon featured in the game are yet to be revealed, fans are excited to see what Pokémon will be added to the roster for this highly anticipated release.

In a three-star review, NME wrote, “Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the game that many have wanted Pokemon to be for the last 10 years. It also looks about that old and runs about that well too. It’s absolutely wonderful to finally have something genuinely new in this amazing series, but I’m also really hoping this is just the first step towards more experimentation with the formula because now we’ve all been given a taste of what Pokemon could become.” It is clear from this assessment that Pokémon Legends Z-A has a lot of potential to become an even bigger success
