Michael Sheen has shown his support for a four-year-old boy named Louis who is suffering from a rare genetic condition by donating £5,000 towards home adaptations that will improve his living conditions. The Welsh actor contributed to a charity football match that was organised to help raise funds for Louis and his family, who require £40,000 to carry out the necessary modifications. This comes shortly after Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney gave £10,000 to the same cause.
Louis’s condition is called TUBA1A and it causes him to have leg spasms, limited mobility, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. His family is currently converting their Wrexham home to accommodate their son’s needs, and the funds raised from the donations will be used to add a bedroom and wetroom on the ground floor and to raise the garden level so that Louis can easily access the outdoor space.
The Wrexham Police FC team, made up of off-duty North Wales Police officers, is also playing in a charity match against North Wales Dragons, with the proceeds going towards Louis’s fund. Michael Sheen, who reportedly has Welsh roots, made the donation in the form of an online payment, which prompted Charlotte, Louis’s mum, to express her gratitude and appreciatively refer to his donation as “lovely”.
The response has been extremely positive, with Charlotte praising the group’s enthusiastic fundraising efforts, as well as their generosity and determination to help her son. She emphasized that they are now much closer to reaching their target goal and plan to begin renovations on the home extension by April. Sgt Dave Smith and the Wrexham Police FC team also joined Charlotte in thanking Michael for his kindness and generosity, noting that his support “will make a real difference” for Louis and his family
