Adidas is reportedly suing rapper and producer Kanye West for $250 million, according to a recent social media post. West claims the sportswear brand is putting out “fake colour ways” of their YZY footwear line that they had once worked on together. The company is also allegedly not paying him for the shoes, which are being sold under his name.
After Adidas ended its sponsorship of West in 2022, when he made controversial anti-Semitic comments on Twitter, the producer claimed the brand was suing him for a significant amount of money and selling counterfeit versions of the shoes they developed together. West has since refused to accept the term “anti-Semitism,” claiming it is “not factual,” but he did apologise to those who might have been offended by his comments.
West also recently claimed he had been close to bankruptcy after Adidas cut ties with him. The rapper-producer posted a screenshot of the shoes in question on the Adidas website, warning fans not to buy the fake version of his Yeezy-branded footwear.
West’s legal issues with Adidas have not yet been verified, and the sportswear company declined to comment when asked to confirm the lawsuit.
