Blank Mind, a record label, has revealed their upcoming release of ‘Lost Paradise: Blissed Out Hardcore 91-94.’ The album has been scheduled to be released on March 25th, both digitally and via double pack vinyl. The album delivers a distorted throwback sound of Sheffield bleep ambience, rave-meets-breaks sounds, and softer new-age synth pads, spanning a three-year period. The overall idea of the album is to recognise the unity established through experimentation, bridging the gap between serene soundscapes and frenzied bass.
The label is focused on highlighting the shared connections formed between these two opposites and emphasises the atmosphere created through them. Alongside this, the album is a nod to the political landscape of the time, particularly during the post-Thatcher years and the Criminal Justice Act. Lost Paradise came after both Sam Purcell, the label founder, and Tammo Hesselink recognised their love for hardcore, particularly tunes that have an ethereal ambience and long blissful breakdowns.
Purcell said that the album aims to look at music through the lens of ecstasy in the traditional sense, focusing on the themes of ascension and the feeling of optimism, which was prominent in music from that era. Despite not having first-hand experience from that time, the album was created to pay tribute to that period, hoping to introduce it to more people.
‘Lost Paradise: Blissed Out Hardcore 91-94’ is available for pre-order and expected to be out on March 25th, 2021. The record will be available digitally and in physical form on a double pack vinyl. The duo is set to deliver a beautiful album with the ebb and flow of an album, paying homage to other compilations such as Artificial Intelligence and Objets D’art.
