Leeds United football club fans have become a social media sensation after their team’s victory over Leicester, celebrated with a mass rendition of the Kaiser Chiefs song “I Predict A Riot”. Leeds United tweeted a video of the fans singing, which has since been viewed over two million times. Despite trailing behind Leicester in the game since the 15th minute, Leeds managed to pull off a 3-1 win in the final 10 minutes, earning them a six-point deficit behind the league’s current leaders. The Kaiser Chiefs has a connection to the football club as the band’s frontman Ricky Wilson is a fan. The group recently shared the video on social media and accompanied it with some high-five emojis.
The Kaiser Chiefs have announced they will release their eighth album, Kaiser Chiefs’ Easy Eighth Album, on March 1st, which is available to pre-order and pre-save via their website. The group shared the second single from the album, “Burning In Flames,” last month. The band plans to embark on a tour across the UK this spring. Fans interested in attending any of their concerts can find tickets via Ticketmaster.
Wilson, the Kaiser Chief’s frontman, also recently discussed past insults he’s received from Mark E. Smith and Oasis. Speaking to NME, Wilson recalled the late Fall icon Smith saying that the Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys “should open a chain of chip shops in North Yorkshire.” Instead of taking offense, Wilson noted he respected and admired Smith. In reference to past jibes thrown by Liam and Noel Gallagher, Wilson mentioned that he had “met up” with Oasis, “but we haven’t laughed about old pops they’ve had at me.” Rather than confront Liam Gallagher about past insults, Wilson said he would like to be friends with him, adding “I think he’s very good at being hilarious. I don’t think he’s ever tried to be hurtful towards me – and long may he reign in his hilarity.”
